Maximum Local Partial Likelihood Estimators for the Counting Process Intensity Function and Its Derivatives
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose estimators for the counting process intensity function and its derivatives by maximizing the local partial likelihood. We prove the consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators. In addition to the computational ease, a nice feature of the proposed estimators is the automatic boundary bias correction property. We also discuss the choice of the tuning parameters in the definition of the estimators. An effective and easy-to-calculate data-driven bandwidth selector is proposed. A small simulation experiment is carried out to assess the performance of the proposed bandwidth selector and the estimators.

Efficient estimation of semiparametric transformation models for counting processes
A class of semiparametric transformation models is proposed to characterise the effects of possibly time-varying covariates on the intensity functions of counting processes. The class includes the proportional intensity model and linear transformation models as special cases. Nonparametric maximum likelihood estimators are developed for the regression parameters and cumulative intensity functio...
متن کاملOn the Maximum Likelihood Estimators for some Generalized Pareto-like Frequency Distribution
Abstract. In this paper we consider some four-parametric, so-called Generalized Pareto-like Frequency Distribution, which have been constructed using stochastic Birth-Death Process in order to model phenomena arising in Bioinformatics (Astola and Danielian, 2007). As examples, two ”real data” sets on the number of proteins and number of residues for analyzing such distribution are given. The co...
متن کاملA Semiparametric Regression Model for Panel Count Data: When Do Pseudo-likelihood Estimators Become Badly Inefficient?
We consider estimation in a particular semiparametric regression model for the mean of a counting process under the assumption of “panel count” data. The basic model assumption is that the conditional mean function of the counting process is of the form E{N(t)|Z} = exp(θ′Z)Λ(t) where Z is a vector of covariates and Λ is the baseline mean function. The “panel count” observation scheme involves o...
متن کاملAN OPTIMUM APPROACH TOWARDS SEISMIC FRAGILITY FUNCTION OF STRUCTURES THROUGH METAHEURISTIC HARMONY SEARCH ALGORITHM
Vulnerability assessment of structures encounter many uncertainties like seismic excitations intensity and response of structures. The most common approach adopted to deal with these uncertainties is vulnerability assessment through fragility functions. Fragility functions exhibit the probability of exceeding a state namely performance-level as a function of seismic intensity. A common approach...
متن کاملTwo Likelihood-based Semiparametric Estimation Methods for Panel Count Data with Covariates
We consider estimation in a particular semiparametric regression model for the mean of a counting process with “panel count” data. The basic model assumption is that the conditional mean function of the counting process is of the form E{N(t)|Z} = exp(β 0 Z)Λ0(t) where Z is a vector of covariates and Λ0 is the baseline mean function. The “panel count” observation scheme involves observation of t...
